Contentment, Prosperity, and God’s Glory

Jeremiah Burroughs

Reformation Heritage Books, 2013

144 pages

This book is the appendix to Burroughs’ popular book The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment. He shows how principles of Scripture teach us about contentment, particularly in a state of abundance as opposed to in affliction and need. He masterfully and systematically defines contentment, the difficulties in learning how to be full, and exhorts the reader to understand and desire godly contentment. The editor has worked hard to modernize the language of the writing while preserving the meaning and message for today’s readers. In a western world full of abundance, like Silicon Valley, there paradoxically exists an epidemic of discontentment.  My hope is that Burroughs’ writings will bless, convict, and sanctify you as it has done for me, and will drive you to the foot of the cross to find contentment in Christ alone.
